I've always been amazed at people who will condemn a movie (or book or play or whatever) that has a sex scene and/or nudity.
Yet, some of these same people say nary a word when a movie (or book or play or whatever) has umpteen people getting bashed, killed, mutilated, blown up, shot, etc.
The way I see it, at least sex and the human body can be beautiful. I don't think that violence ever is. (My books do sometimes include violent acts but I like to think I don't overdo them and they are appropriate to the story.) I'm not saying nothing should ever have violence in it, just that I don't get how some people can condemn sex/nudity but rarely violence.
I don't consider sex a four letter word. Instead, I think it's a beautiful expression of romance and love. Devotion. And it's why I write erotic romance.

Yes! Yes! Yes! If it weren't for sex, none of us would be here, so sex is a pretty necessary part of our lives. Violence, not so much.
My parents would let me watch R-rated movies as a kid that included violence and gore (e.g., Outland, Witchblade, Nightmare on Elm Street) but never movies that were rated R for sexual content. Once I was in my teens, that struck me as a backward set of criteria. Not that I think 10-year-olds are ready to watch hard-core porn, or anything.
I agree about the sex/nudity, however I think there should be more equality when it comes to nudity in movies. It seems there's more female nudity than male and the male body is just as beautiful as the female. As a big fan of action and horror, I also don't have a problem with violence in movies. As long as there are appropriate warnings for those who might be offended by the content, just about anything goes for me.
Jennifer, I'm with you. No, not hard core porn, but it just puzzles me that some freak out about one but not the other.
Kate, I agree with you on that, too.
