March is Women's History Month

And I've been trying to celebrate by reading about women and having my daughters do the same.

Did you realize we haven't yet gotten to the 100 year anniversary of the United States legalizing a woman's right to vote? It hasn't even been a century yet! It was in 1920 that women officially received the right to vote in the United States with the 19th Amendment being added to the Constitution.

Women fought long and hard to amend the Constitution so that the right of women to vote would be protected. Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Susan B. Anthony are just a few names of women who fought for a woman's right to vote.

With that right to vote, women were given more of a voice in government. A step forward for women's rights. It's why I think every woman should exercise their right to vote. Not only for themselves but for the woman who came before us.

The right for women to vote wasn't achieved in Susan B. Anthony's lifetime. She was never able to legally exercise that right she so obviously held dear.

Women's rights is all about the power to determine our own destinies. Which is something that erotic romance touches on quite a bit (as do most genres of romance).

I plan on reading about a couple of women who I admire from history this month. I really should do that every month. I can't help but wonder, "what's her story?" about so many women.
