A Whole Other Kind of Story...

I’m incredibly thrilled that I’m writing again.

Let me explain….no, that would take too long. Let me sum it up for you instead: recently, I’ve been going through something akin to Writers Block. Except that’s not quite it.

There’s no block, it’s all there. The words are waiting inside of me. But there has been no will to write. More like a Writers Pause.

It was a if they were waiting to be used. I’ve been working on a few things lately, but I’ve just begun Invoking the Darkness: The Other Book Two.

I’ve been plotting out the story and I’m super excited. Let me tell you why.

I had written the first book in what I thought could be a trilogy. I called it Tempting Darkness: The Other Book One. I was hesitant about this story.

As an author, I seem to favour a particular writing style. I love the paranormal genre. I love what the unknown can bring to a story. And I love the passion that explodes when a little lust in thrown in for good measure. I’ve written romances that have zombies and The Living Dead (The Hunted Series) and I’ve written romances that have included magic, prophecies and quests mixed with modern day settings and folklore (The Written Word Series).

But before Tempting Darkness: The Other Book One, I had never written a Shape Shifter romance.

I can’t give you a very good idea for this. I mean, I read a lot of Shape Shifter Paranormal Romance, Pamela Palmer’s recent Feral Series is a good example. I love them; I think that magic is at it’s strongest when it’s at its most primal.

There is nothing more primal than a man that can unleash the inner beast; sometimes quite literally. But I had never attempted one.

So Tempting Darkness would be my first. I sent it out into the world hoping, as every writer does, that it would do well. I had given it everything it would need: Mysterious men that come together in a difficult situation, each hiding a secret of his own. A thrilling and dark duo of Villains, more than what they seem. And a dangerous task that must be completed; the Fate of the World depended on it.

I watched it go out into the world and wondered if it would be alright. I’m sure other writers understand this. We’ve laboured on something and given it love, passion and, if all the ingredients are right, a little bit of magic.

And, fantastically, Tempting Darkness: The Other Book One is a success! It has been my biggest seller ever. It’s also the book that has been bought more than any other of my books since its release in June. Now how cool is that?

So I was worried for nothing. Tempting Darkness went out into the world and did me proud. People are already asking what will happen next. Though it’s gotten a bad review or two (I mean, you can’t please everyone), rest assured that Invoking Darkness pumps The Other Trilogy into a whole new kind of magic.

Tempting Darkness: The Other Book One is available from Cobblestone Press and I do hope you pick up a copy and enjoy it.

As an author, you’re not really supposed to have favourites. But Tempting Darkness holds a special place in my heart all the same.

Enjoy!
