Hanging with my friends

One thing I've discovered since starting to pursue my writing more seriously is the number of people just like me. Let's face it, writing is an extremely isolated business. Some times the only people I talk to are the ones in my head and that can make me a little stranger than I already am. LOL But with the internet at our fingertips we're able to connect with other writers with the click of a mouse. And in my case they're often on the other side of the globe. The connections I've made over the last three years have been invaluable both to me personally and to my writing, and I really can't imagine my life without all those faceless, voiceless friends.
Then there's the times when we actually get to meet those friends and they're not faceless, voiceless entities anymore. Getting to hang with some of my writer friends is one of the most precious things in this isolated writers life. We talk way too much, laugh way too hard and the best bit is they "get" me. Sure my family is supportive and they kind of understand what it is I do but my writer friends "get" it.
I recently got to hang with some fellow Aussie authors, okay so there was over 200 of them at the conference *grin* but there were three in particular that are very close to me. We spent our first night together talking into the wee hours only to turn around and do it again the next night. It was the best sleepless weekend I've had in a long time and I so wish we got to do it more often. We had so much fun we decided we didn't want to stop so started up the Down Under Divas blog. I love group blogs, it makes being on the net more fun because you've always got someone to share with and you're not forced to come up with a million and one different things to blog about because you aren't the only one talking. LOL
Friends are a gift that should be cherished and I certainly make sure I do that. So tell me, who are your buddies? Who is it that keeps you from going mad or shares that drink? How would you cope without them? Maybe it's time to say thanks for being my friend.
To all my friends, thanks for being there.

RC

Rhian Cahill

Prequel to the Coyote Hunger series.

Forced to make the heartwrenching decision to leave Whispering Mountains, Rowan Wilder isn’t about to go without securing her bond with Quinn MacClellan. Neither expected their first time to be on the forest floor or while running to escape a madman but when it comes to claiming their mate, nothing can stop the hunger from burning out of control and consuming them both.

Publisher’s Note: This is not a standalone story; it has a cliffhanger ending. The next book in the series, Coyote Home, is needed to reach a satisfactory conclusion.
